SolidWorks

My time as a mechanical engineering student had me using SolidWorks often. Through my cumulative experiences I was able to pass the test to become a certified SolidWorks professional!

Examples Created in SolidWorks

The Squishmallow makes use of SolidWorks surfacing tools to model complex geometries. The rocket has a section cut taken on one of the fins to show how the air foil propagates through and shrinks with the elliptical shape, creating theoretically the most ideal fin design.

This was designed to be 3D printed and press fit onto a wind-up car skeleton. Design rules for 3D printing and press fitting were followed and the object printed without supports and fit onto the frame.

P.A.M was created with a utilitarian purpose in mind. It has holes for all the sensors to make readings and custom fits my sensor set up for my Restaurant PM2.5 research. It was also designed with 3D printing in mind and did not need any supports.

Working on a SolidWorks file that 5 years worth of students had previously edited was very challenging so I had to learn a lot about how to manage configurations.

Working on the complete CAD model for OreSat1, I learned about working with very large assemblies. It was also important that my work was correct since we depended on the mass property estimations in order to ensure we were under the weight requirement for the launch provider.
